This is fully electric and I think this is an excellent eco-friendly way for students or just about anyone to get around town. One of the benefits of riding one of these is that you get ride in between cars while they’re at a complete stop and/or stuck in traffic. Also, you get to park for free in any parking structure (3rd St. Promenade in Santa Monica too) and you can park in between two cars that are using a meter and you won’t get a ticket as long as at least one of the meters still has time on it! I asked a meter maid to be absolutely sure. Also, parking for two wheel vehicles is completely FREE on the Santa Monica College main campus! It has two storage compartments, one under the seat and the other doubles as a backrest for your passenger. Both are secured with separate keys. There’s also a storage area right on the steering column that I usually toss stuff into while I’m riding. It comes with a charger that you just plug right into a wall socket and 2 half shell DOT approved helmets. Not only is this fun, but it’s also really convenient and good for the environment!

This bike is the nicest street legal supermoto bike around by far , i bought this bike from the guy who built it

When I road the bike up to the canyons everyone said they had never seen a supermoto like this before specialy a plated wr. There is so much money invested in these bike its sickening .

At the end of the day, whomever buys this bike will be receiving 1 of the nicest custom Supermoto bikes ever built by a privateer…. Me….Yes I am proud of them.

It must be noted first and foremost that this bike is titled and street legal in the state of California and  forever, and it can never be taken away.

This was purchased by me brand new off the showroom floor in late 2001 and is a 2001 Yamaha WR426F. I bought it from Burt’s Mega Mall and had it titled by them before I rolled it off the showroom floor, therefore it had a plate before the wonderful state of California decided to eliminate dual purpose bikes from qualifying for plates thereafter.

About a year after I originally bought the Bike, I ran across a guy on eBay who was selling brand new WR426F engines, in sealed (direct from Yamaha Japan) crates, and because I knew at the time I was never going to sell this bike, I bought one “just to have”. That engine came complete with a brand new carb and was a complete engine, minus the exhaust system.

Suffice it to say, that engine sat in my garage for about 3 years. Meanwhile, the Bike went through several changes including a big bore kit which turned it into a 444cc monster.

About 2-1/2 years ago, I decided that I wanted the trickest street legal Supermoto I had ever seen, so I set out to do just that. I stripped the bike down to the bare frame and built it back up piece by piece over the course of a year and a half into the bike , absolutely no expense was spared and I tried to do things that had never been done to a Supermoto before.

The engine was completely 100% rebuilt using all new everything, crank, big bore using a new cylinder and JE piston, gears, bearings, seals….everything, carb done by Tokyo Mods, and while it was apart, I decided that I wanted the engine to be all black so I powder coated everything, and I mean everything. Basically if it was not a billet aluminum piece, it got powder coated, the billet got hard anodized.

This may sound like a trivial accomplishment, but it took over 20 hours of my time, hunkered over a work bench with gun bore brushes, picks, pipe cleaners, simple green and compressed air to make sure that every last piece of powder coat, sand and whatever else was absolutely gone from each and every piece of the engine cases, cylinder, head, oil pipes, gasket/seal surfaces etc. before it got built.

The engine was ultimately built by Satoshi Moma (Yoshimura).

The bike has 2003 cam in it with auto de-compression which makes starting them a one or 2 kick event.

This bike is also sporting a Hinson slipper clutch and billet basket along with Fluidyne radiators and let me tell you, for the street, this thing is more fun than one should be allowed to have. This bike also has Magura hydraulic clutch

The frame, swingarm, engine mounts and various other things were also powder coated, the sub frame, fork tubes, shock body, fork end caps, wheel lugs, triple clamps, calipers, sprocket(s), handle bars, shock linkage and various other things were anodized, some hard black and others the insane blue you see. Keep in mind that everything but the handle bars that is anodized was polished first which is why the anodizing looks so good.

There are several custom made pieces on the bike that do not show up in the pictures, these pieces were all made by me and my friend on his Haas CNC machine center and are some of the trickest pieces you will find anywhere. The battery holders and tail light mounts are just a couple that come to mind.

Everything that was custom made was modeled in Catia and a the files are archived for future use should the need arise.

The suspension on this Bike is amazing. The afore mentioned outer black fork tubes are married to brand new DLC coated (black) tubes, the shock received the same DLC treatment. The shock and forks were assembled and valved by Too-Tech here in Redondo Beach, I weigh about 190 with full gear on.

Every single bearing from the head stock to the shock linkage was replaced with new OEM.

This bike is wearing Marchesini forged wheels with 16.5″ front and 17×5 rear, a 165 fits absolutely perfectly on the rear with ZERO and again, I mean ZERO chain rub. Stopping is handled by Braking front and rear calipers and wave rotors which are amazing.

The bike is dressed in the 2005 YZ450F bodywork with custom ZLT (Team Scream) graphics. Should you decide you are tired of the Team Scream theme, you can simply call Darrin at ZLT and have them make you new radiator shroud graphics using my template and eliminate the Team Scream logo while keeping the basic design, saving you the cost of buying a complete set of graphics. 

So, that is about all I can think of other than the fact that I have boxes and boxes of spare parts for these bikes, I have at least one spare tank, one original WR tank, seat, sub frame and what not to make it into a WR again if you wanted to, or throw on there if you were going on a longer ride and wanted the luxury of an additional .5 gallon of gas. I have a brand new set of Dunlop slicks for the bike, also.

The Bike has taken well over 12K of my hard earned money to create, not including the original purchase price of the bike.

Ideally, these bikes would go to someone in California, it is all but impossible to get a decent 450 street legal in Cali, these are ready to go. I have in hand the title to the bike, a professional appraisal for the bike which I was required to do to get them insured.

I bought this bad boy in ’99 and raced it (very slowly, actually) for 6 years. I loved it so, and wanted to keep it for all eternity, especially as two-strokes are going the way of the dinosaur.

I loved her little ring-ding music and her light flickability. But then I bought an R1, quit racing and well, with an R1 who needs a 250cc 2-stroke for track days? Perhaps you do!

With things as they are economically and the fact that I haven’t ridden this bike since 2004, it’s time to let her go. I did however recently get a top-end rebuild and thorough carb rebuild.

She runs like new now and has always been meticulously maintained. I’ve installed lights, signals, etc. and she’s registered in North Carolina, even though I brought her back to California when I returned.

I can’t guarantee you’ll be able to register it in California, but you could easily register it elsewhere, for those of you with a second home in Arizona or Nevada…

There is a cool, subtle rainbow metalflake and the pink stickers are easy enough to peel off, if pink’s not your thing.

This bike is a Street legal and green sticker motocross converted supermoto with tons of modifications. This is a 97 Yamaha YZ250 (2-stroke) with tons of 2006-2010 parts including a rebuilt engine and 2008 Acerbis plastics! It starts up 1st or 2nd kick every time and runs like a champ. *Inverted forks are positioned on the motorcycle opposite or upside down when compared to conventional forks. The leverage forces that cause fork flex are greatest at the triple clamp area and weakest at the front axle. On inverted forks, the large outer tube of the fork is clamped in the bike’s triple clamps and the sliding inner tube holds the axle and front wheel. By locating the large diameter tubes in the triple clamp, the inverted or upside down fork have their largest and strongest parts combating the highest stress. This arrangement gives the forks high rigidity, which improves their response by reducing the side loading of the internal bushings (sliding surfaces). This kind of response is particularly important in high performance applications. Most inverted forks use cartridge-type damping systems.

Also, since the damping mechanisms are now held by the triple clamps, unsprung weight is minimized. Reducing unsprung weight is one of the biggest contributors to quality suspension performance, particularly for featherweight motorcycles like the YZ series
